If there is one area that being too frugal will come back to bite you, it is with cabling. Always cable more than you believe you will need in the next five to ten years in a new office space. It is much less expensive or intrusive to cable “all at once” than on a piece meal basis.

We have cabled hundreds of companies’ facilities and are very proud of the professional look and performance of our installations. Our cabling installations carry a minimum ten year warranty and we always use the best cabling and connector components.

Being a full service VOIP company means that we can be responsible for installing new wiring for you or certifying your wiring for VOIP. Many companies just sell phones and that can leave you in a bind when or if cabling issues arise.

The most commonly installed data cabling currently is CAT6. It will run your gigabit network without issues when quality connecting hardware is used.

For our customers who have the need for speed, we can install even faster network wiring such as CAT6a, fiber, or super-fast wireless options.

We use only solid copper data cabling in our installations. Beware of Copper Clad Aluminum under performing overseas wire! Many of our competitors bid this type of wiring and hide it in the fine print.

CCA is simply aluminum wiring COATED with a thin layer of copper to give the appearance of solid copper wire. Most, if not all, is not even UL listed. This is a throwback to the 1970’s when homes used aluminum wiring due to copper costs. Solid copper is better in every way.

VoIP Portland uses only quality cabling and components. Most of the VOIP phones we sell also support gigabit pass-through at the IP phone itself (very important). You don’t want your phone killing your network speed!

Wireless Options including advanced Cloud Based WIFI-6 Access Points

Where a wired network is not possible or too costly there are always many WIFI options. Many times we will advise for free, referring someone to a good WIFI mesh option on Amazon. Tri-Band, fast mesh WIFI is all the rage for small businesses. They allow for remote wired devices w/o wiring in place. Netgear and others have <$500 business-level solutions. Simple to install and maintain. The days of 99% of companies needing to spend thousands on proprietary routers with their paid fees for updates are pretty much over.

Several current VoIP phones support WIFI connectivity as a built-in or USB dongle feature which is great for cable-challenged installations.

Summary - If you do need cabling: Not all data wiring installations are the same. Cable contractors will count on you not knowing a good installation from a bad one.

Surprise them with your ability to protect your companies’ interests. You may save your company thousands of dollars in the near future in re-cabling expenses.

VoIP Portland can provide phone line services as well as cloud and premise phone systems. One monthly invoice. Often with no equipment expense up front as we can rent phones for as little as $5/month. That is for a color IP phone, not some basic set. There is no need to get your phone lines from an ISP like Comcast, Century Link or Ziply. ONLY internet.
